Position Summary
The fieldwork instructor position/s are part of the Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education, They conduct fieldwork supervision and organization for programs in the Department of Educational Psychology (e.g. Illinois Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program and the Early Childhood Alternative Licensure Program). The fieldwork instructor supports organizations in translating standards into actionable, sustainable practices that fit their unique community context and provides coaching to program leaders, managers, and teachers working in early childhood education programs. They will coordinate with faculty program coordinators and instructors of field-based seminars. Field supervision includes coaching, documentation, and assessment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement a coaching model for the integration of Model Work Standards into early childhood programs.
  • Conduct fieldwork (in person and virtual) visits providing coaching and assessments.
  • Document information related to fieldwork placements (e.g., goal setting, progress monitoring, etc.).
  • Coordinates with Program Coordinators, Course Instructors, and the Council on Teacher Education as required.
  • Identify and/or create resources to support programs with the implementation of their individual goals.
  • Collaborates with program faculty and researchers for program evaluation and continued accreditation.
  • Participate on committees and/or teams as needed and/or assigned.
  • Knows and enforces academic policies.
  • Will be responsible for designing and leading seminars on work environments in early childhood settings appropriate for a varied audience including program leaders, managers, and teachers.
  • Guide professionals in implementing reflective practices and applying new learnings to center practices
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Required travel to schools and community-based organizations in Chicagoland area. Regular overnight travel not expected but may occur occasionally around previously scheduled events


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Minimum of a master's degree in early childhood or related field. Five years of experience working with young children in community-based and/or school settings.
    Demonstrated experience in teaching and coaching pre-service and in-service
    Three years administrative experience required with a minimum of three years supervisory experience in an early childhood setting.
    Knowledge of Chicago area communities, programs and resources available

    Preferred Qualifications
    Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Early Childhood preferred
    Demonstrated history of building strong relationships to support shifts in practice and guide organizational improvement efforts.
    Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
