Job Summary

IPG is developing next-generation laser products based on its state-of-the-art laser technology. The Engineering Intern will support the team by working with SBO crystal imaging data, including annotating images and assisting with machine learning (ML) dataset preparation and training workflows. This role is well-suited for a student pursuing Materials Science or a related field who is interested in applying their laboratory and analytical experience to real-world data and imaging problems. The position emphasizes attention to detail, structured data handling, and collaboration within an engineering team, with opportunities to gain exposure to applied ML in a manufacturing environment.


  • Must be enrolled in an engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical degree program
  • GPA 3.0 or higher preferred
  • Basic familiarity with programming (Python preferred) is a plus, but not required
  • Strong attention to detail, especially for image labeling and data accuracy
  • Interest in machine learning, data annotation, or computer vision concepts
  • Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
