Job Description
Aircraft Technology, Inc., (ATI), a subsidiary of HEICO Corporation, is an FAA/EASA Part 145 Repair Station. ATI supports a wide range of rotary and fixed wing components found on both commercial and military platforms around the world.


The Manual Machinist Apprentice assists the machining department while learning the fundamentals of machining operations used in the repair and manufacturing of aviation components. The apprentice works under close supervision to develop skills in machine setup, measurement, tooling, and safe operation of machining equipment.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assist experienced machinists with machine setup and preparation of parts for machining operations.
  • Load and unload parts from machines while ensuring proper handling of aviation components.
  • Measure finished and in-process workpieces using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Perform deburring, cleaning, and preparation of parts before and after machining.
  • Replace dull cutting tools under supervision.
  • Assist in mounting and securing workpieces, fixtures, and tooling on machines.
  • Observe machine operations and report abnormal sounds, vibration, or tool wear.
  • Move materials, tools, fixtures, and equipment throughout the production area as required.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support production requirements.

Requirements

EDUCATION:



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.



EXPERIENCE:




  • Entry level. Previous mechanical or manufacturing exposure is preferred but not required.





KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:



  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Basic shop math and measurement concepts.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to safely use tools and equipment.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, squat, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May work with toxic or caustic chemicals.



WORK ENVIRONMENT


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and sometimes excessive.
