This role provides HR Business Partner consulting and guidance to the Power Grid Operations organization, a department that is committed to delivering energy - reliably, efficiently, sustainably, and most of all safely.

Job Summary

The Senior HR Business Partner will manage work in human resource areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. They are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in use of concepts and procedures. They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. The HRBP builds partnerships across the HR function in order to deliver value-added service to management and employees.

This is the career/senior level of the HR Business Partner classification hierarchy. Employees at this level manage work in human resource areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. This Sr. HR Business Partner position will be supporting functions within the Power Grid Operations group.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic Consulting support to assigned customer base, consisting of departments within the Power Grid Operations organization, including leaders and individual contributors.

  • Responsible for providing HR guidance across several HR disciplines (e.g., compensation, employee relations, talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, policy implementation, employment law, change management).

  • Provides independent consultation on complex issues; is knowledgeable of past internal practices and/or best external practices regarding HR-related business issues. Analyzes and understands information and business objectives to make appropriate recommendations to leadership/assigned customers.

  • Provide strategic oversight and ownership for planning, coordination, monitoring, and developing recommendations for Power Grid Operations related issues or initiatives.

  • Maintain weekly and monthly data analysis reporting and trending to provide valuable data for management through established HR reports and established corporate metrics.

  • Manage and facilitate talent planning process to meet established milestones throughout the year.

  • Provide investigation support, as needed.

  • Completes non-routine HR projects with minimal oversight and has the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces.

  • Responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management within Power Grid Operations

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • In addition to required degree, three (3) or more years related work experience.

  • In lieu of bachelor's degree(s) AND three (3) or more years related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND seven (7) or more years related work experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in human resources or human resource management experience in Employee Relations

  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification

  • Five (5) or more years of HR functional experience

  • Experience working as an HR Generalist

  • Experience as an HR professional in a utility environment

  • Working knowledge of employment/labor laws

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to a designated Duke Energy facility.

  • Office, operations center, and remote environment which will include prolonged sitting at desk or workstation, exposure to personal computer monitor, and frequent use of keyboard and phone.

  • May be required to travel to various operations centers within the assigned customer base.
