About the Job

Teaching Specialists provide classroom teaching for courses that supplement the faculty offerings and/or expertise of the faculty. The teaching specialist also provides a source of classroom substitute instruction. The title may be used for credit and non-credit courses, workshops, seminars and conferences. It is not normally expected that persons in this classification would be expected to fulfill the other missions of the University. Service to the unit, college, or campus may be expected.

Develop and teach courses
Advise students with regard to academic concerns and school-related organizations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Masters degree is normally required. The appointee is not required to have the same credentials expected of faculty, but must have demonstrated competence to teach the course material.
  • Professional and/or teaching experience related to assigned instructional responsibilities may be required.

Preferred

  • Masters degree or PhD in a Natural Sciences area.
  • Experience in a collegiate academic setting.
About the Department

The Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology (FWCB) comprises a multidisciplinary group of scholars working on applied and fundamental problems related to the ecology of free-ranging wild animals, management of harvested and invasive species, and documentation and conservation of biodiversity.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $10,500 lump sum ($3,500 per credit for a three-credit class)
