Hexcel is looking for a Painter Journey for their Kent, WA location.

Summary pay range: $ 31.38 - $36.92 hourly wage rate.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Prepare, mask, and finish aerospace parts for base coat and primer in accordance with customer engineering and specification requirements.

  • Mix, measure, and prepare paint materials-including base coats, primers, catalysts, thinners, solvents, and texture materials-per manufacturer and Hexcel standards.

  • Apply top coat, texture, Teflon, and other specialty finishes using airpowered spray guns and pressurepot systems.

  • Set up, operate, and maintain controlledenvironment paint booths, ensuring proper temperature, humidity, and contamination control.

  • Inspect parts for surface defects, paint quality, adhesion, and texture consistency; make corrective adjustments as needed.

  • Read, interpret, and execute customer drawings, work orders, and finish specifications accurately.

  • Document part numbers, materials used, paint processes, and painter identification using computer systems and barcode scanners.

  • Coordinate paint-job sequencing and collaborate with Painter Specialists and Finishers to maximize throughput and meet production schedules.

  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring proper cleaning, storage, and operational readiness.

  • Participate in continuous improvement, rootcause analysis, and corrective action initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Five years on the job experience at performing top coat painting in an aerospace, automotive, or similar production environment; proficiency at all base coat & primer, texture, Teflon, and application of top coat

  • Demonstrate ability to mix and apply base coats and primers

  • Demonstrate ability to clean and care for paint equipment

  • Must maintain safety, environmental, and health standards relevant to OSHA requirements and Hexcel policy

  • Must be able to read, interpret, and comply with customer drawings and specificationrequirements as well as Hexcel policies and procedures

  • Must be well organized, proactive, and self-motivated

  • Flexibility to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift, as well as week day and weekend overtime

  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures

  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent) REQUIRED.

  • Must be able to coordinate and prioritize job sequences, as well as Painter Specialist and Finisher assignments in order to meet production schedule requirements and maximize paint booth throughput.

  • Satisfactorily complete classroom requirements for operator certification (OV) as outlined by Hexcel's training department.
