About this opportunity:

Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. However, hours may vary depending on assignment needs, project timelines, and operational demands during the summer maintenance period.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function:

Under supervision, perform duties related to basic maintenance of University Residence Halls by means of manual processes, complying with appropriate regulations and codes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Assist in demolition and clean-up of flooring using manual and power tools.

2. Perform basic repairs on faucets, washers, dryers, sinks, etc.

3. Perform painting, sanding and scraping of walls within residence halls.

4. Perform basic repairs on reciprocals, light switches, lamps, etc.

5. Perform basic repairs to door hinges, furniture, windows, closets, etc.

6. Assist with minor lock and passage set repairs.

7. Operate portable power tools for basic maintenance.

8. Move furniture and other items and remove trash from work sites as needed.

9. Move and work on ladders reaching up to 12 feet.

10. Measure with tape measures and rulers on job sites.

11. Clean and maintain all department equipment and tools as required, clean-up worksites,
and report damaged tools and equipment to supervisor.

12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

13. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

The above listed essential functions require varying degrees of independence, judgment, and discretion. All of the above listed tools, activities, functions, requirements and conditions will be used in varying degrees.

NOTE: The duties/responsibilities of this position, and the percentage of time required to perform those duties/responsibilities may vary significantly based on shift assignment and decisions of management. All of the above duties/responsibilities are to be performed at the standards set by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School graduate or equivalent (GED).

2. Able to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally and 40 pounds frequently.

3. No allergies to soaps and other cleaning chemicals.

4. Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, University policies, procedures and communications, and perform basic mathematical functions.

5. Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy, if required by assignment.

6.Must be able to perform all mental and physical requirements as outlined in each job duty.

7. You must be 18 years or older.

Requires successful completion of a background check. Requires successful completion of a drivers license check.
