Description

The Small Business Banking CRA Relationship Manager is responsible for driving small business growth and ensuring compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) by developing and managing relationships with small business clients, community organizations, and referral partners. This role combines proactive business development with a strong commitment to community engagement, particularly in underserved and low-to-moderate income (LMI) areas within the bank's CRA assessment areas.

Essential Functions:



  • Proactively investigates opportunities for expanding CRA Small Business market share and making business more profitable, with particular attention to identifying and contacting prospective clients and exploring the potential for additional financial needs among present clients. Works closely with Team Leader where applicable.
  • Responsible for marketing Small Business products and services including preparing for client calls, making sales calls, and call follow-up. Identifies opportunities and continually prospects for new clients. Generates leads through existing relationships; asks clients for referrals.
  • Assess localized small business activities, opportunities for financing growing enterprises and provide outreach to business areas that are experiencing expansion through market integration.
  • Proactively identify and pursue small business lending and banking opportunities, with a focus on CRA-eligible markets.
  • Develop and implement individualized call plans to increase market penetration and client usage of bank services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with small business clients, ensuring their financial needs are met through tailored solutions.
  • Cross-sell bank products and services, ensuring an integrated and seamless client experience.
  • Maintain responsibility for the loan file from application through closing, including pre-qualification and financial analysis.
  • Ensure all lending activities comply with CRA, fair lending, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.
  • Perform compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.
  • Partner with retail branches and internal teams to develop a pipeline of quality referrals.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on CRA and fair lending responsibilities.
  • Participate in internal training programs to enhance product knowledge, prospecting techniques, and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, local governments, and real estate professionals to generate CRA-qualified lending opportunities.
  • Actively participate in community events, fairs, and trade shows to promote the bank's presence and support CRA objectives.
  • Serve on boards or committees of civic organizations, small business trade associations, and community development agencies where appropriate.
  • Track and report on community outreach efforts and event participation to measure impact and inform future strategies.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CRA regulations and fair lending laws.
  • General banking knowledge and/or Small Business lending acquired through experience in the Small Business transactions, processing control procedures, general ledger, and accounting principles and familiar with traditional bank policies.
  • Work experience in fiduciary relationship management, including experience in Small Business Lending
  • Knowledge of Small Business policies and structure, product knowledge and financial analysis.
  • Proven analytical skills; ability to review and interpret complex data (determining risk, assessing complexity of accounts, etc).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to analyze, synthesize and articulate complex ideas and communicate such to colleagues, team members, and clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with and work effectively with diverse groups of people, managing conflict, negotiating for results and developing working relationships with potential and current clients
  • High degree of PC based technical skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of products
  • Ability to set and achieve challenging goals.
  • Required to have or obtain a Mortgage Loan Originator registration number through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS)


Compensation:

SBB CRA Relationship Manager I: $74,079 - $111,119
SBB CRA Relationship Manager II: $93,591- $140,386

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position located in Seattle, Washington. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. This position is also eligible to participate in an applicable annual bonus and incentive compensation plan.
