Job Description
We are seeking remote experienced Mechanical Designers with strong expertise in Autodesk Inventor 3D to support modifications and updates to existing mechanical designs, primarily for themed entertainment and live experience applications. The role centers on updating and refining 3D models, assemblies, and drawings for structural components and mechanisms-including actuators, motors, and motion systems-with occasional major redesigns as required. Candidates with prior experience in themed entertainment, show action equipment, animatronics, or ride/show systems are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
3D Modeling & Design Updates
Modify and update existing Inventor 3D models, assemblies, and drawings for structural frames, brackets, weldments, and support structures.
Perform updates to mechanism designs, including actuator-driven systems, motorized motion components, and linkage assemblies.
Produce accurate fabrication drawings with correct dimensions, tolerances, notes, and BOMs.
Execute design updates while maintaining alignment with original design intent, standards, and constraints.
Documentation & Data Control
Use Autodesk Vault for revision management, checkin/out, and change control.
Maintain consistent CAD file structure, naming conventions, and drawing standards.
Support ECR/ECO processes with timely drawing and model updates.
Collaboration & Integration
Work closely with mechanical engineers, project managers, and controls teams to incorporate feedback into design revisions.
Coordinate mechanical updates with electrical, controls, and fabrication requirements.
Participate in design reviews focused on verifying updated models and assemblies.
Prototyping & Support
Assist with prototype fit checks or mechanical testing as needed.
Support occasional onsite verification and asbuilt updates (as project needs dictate).
Required:
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Additional technical certificates or training in mechanical design, CAD, or related areas are beneficial but not required.
Required Skills Qualifications
Strong, demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling, editing existing models, and producing detailed 2D drawings.
Experience using Autodesk Vault for CAD data management and revision control.
Handson experience modifying fabrication-ready drawings and assemblies.
Solid understanding of structural mechanical components (frames, weldments, brackets, assemblies).
Familiarity with mechanism fundamentals including linear actuators, motor-driven components, linkages, or motion systems.
Ability to maintain accuracy, follow established standards, and work efficiently on fast-paced, multi-project workloads.
Preferred:
Experience in themed entertainment, live entertainment, animatronics, show action equipment, ride/show systems, or automation.
Experience modifying mechanism assemblies incorporating sensors, actuators, motors, or PLC-driven components.
Exposure to fabrication practices and shop requirements.
Experience with additional CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, or Onshape) is a plus, but not required.
Compensation:
