Position Summary

The Center for Occupational Environmental Health Promotion,
within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a Staff RN to work in an
outpatient clinic setting providing professional nursing services and patient
care. This position will follow
established nursing processes, including patient assessment, triage,
nursing-level diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The incumbent will ensure adherence to
Hospital, Department, and University policies and nursing procedures,
standards, and practices.

The Department of Internal Medicine is a large, progressive
department with a diverse staff working in dedicated teams to provide quality
work in an organized, effective, and efficient manner through innovation,
training, and education. Through our collaborative work effort, we support the
faculty and enhance the missions of the department, school, Health Sciences
Center, and University.

Conditions of Employment
  • CPR Certification must be obtained within 2 weeks of date of hire.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • IV Certification within 6 months of hire may be required for some positions in this classification, depending on the individual needs of the department
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program; no previous experience required.
Certification/Licensure
State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing off-site immunization and TST clinics
  • Performing nursing services for US DOT/ FMCSA evaluations (including vision exams, UAs, audiology, etc)
  • Experience performing spirometry exams
  • Experience determining immune status for infectious diseases
  • Administering vaccinations: MMR, Tdap, Hep B, Varicella, Influenza (and others on a case-by-case basis); and placing/reading TB skin tests
  • Experience treating patients with body fluid exposures/needlesticks from high-risk donors
  • Experience with workers' compensation and/or job-related injuries
  • Bilingual - Fluent in English and Spanish
