Position Summary

The Associate Director provides strategic leadership to align, streamline, and strengthen student communications in support of student success and flourishing. Advance a coordinated communications ecosystem that enhances onboarding, belonging, engagement, and persistence across the student lifecycle. In partnership with schools and administrative units, design and implement integrated, data-informed communication strategies that positively influence student decision-making, academic progress, and holistic wellbeing through targeted outreach, timely nudges, and proactive messaging. Lead special projects and major Student Success initiatives-including onboarding optimization, retention and completion efforts, and student technology implementation-through comprehensive, data-driven communications planning. This includes audience segmentation, campaign development, performance assessment, and collaboration with campus partners to ensure clarity, accessibility, and measurable impact. Serving as a key liaison to divisional communicators, the role promotes effective use of student success technologies, delivers project management and resources, and oversees the creation of high-impact print and digital communications aligned with institutional priorities around flourishing, retention, and degree completion.


Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:
5+ years of relevant experience in developing, designing and delivering training and communication. Experience designing, developing and delivering training solutions including use of online vehicles.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years Experience working in Higher Education. Experience with screen capture and video training applications and technology.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience in developing communications via various methods and channels such as email, text, newsletters, blogs, chat and web. Experience working closely with and interacting with various levels of stakeholders and users. Demonstrated experience and proven success in training and communications. Ability to develop and maintain multiple channels and methods of communication. Ability to work in application systems such as SRM and CRM platforms. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Strong relationship-building skills. Proven success working in a project-oriented team environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and online learning development tools. Ability to be flexible and adjust as needed to changes in deadline and priorities.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Online learning development experience and web development skills.


Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $100,000.00 to USD $120,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
