Job Description

Be part of the team that keeps the engine of the facility running strong. In this role, you'll operate and maintain the critical mechanical systems within the physical plant that power daily operations. From generating and monitoring steam to producing chilled water and ensuring emergency generators are ready at a moment's notice, your work helps keep the facility safe, comfortable, and operational 24/7.

You'll work hands-on with essential equipment such as boilers and boiler accessories, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, emergency generators, air handlers, refrigeration systems, and other supporting mechanical systems. If you enjoy solving problems, working with powerful equipment, and being the behind-the-scenes hero who keeps everything running smoothly, this role is for you.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be a member of the appropriate local union.
  • Knowledge of standard trade practices, materials, tools, equipment, processes, and techniques, including the safe use of torches and welding equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read diagrams and blueprints, and maintain accurate records.
  • If driving is required, the employee must meet and maintain the requirements outlined in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and push or pull up to 95 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Good dexterity, balance, and coordination required for working from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Position requires standing, lifting, climbing, reaching, stooping, bending, pulling, squatting, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to wear a half-mask respirator in compliance with OSHA safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Kansas City Operator Engineer Contractor Certification

  • EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification

Preferred Qualifications
  • Mechanical technical trade school training.

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare facility or large industrial setting.
