For more than 35 years, the Highlights Foundation has been fulfilling its mission to positively impact children by amplifying the voices of storytellers who inform, educate, and inspire children to become their best selves.

The Foundation Retreat Center is in the beautiful Pocono Mountains and is located near the Highlights office in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.

Each year, the Foundation delivers nearly 100 workshops, symposiums, and retreats online and at their Retreat Center. Instruction covers a wide range of topics and offering encouragement for both beginning and published authors and illustrators. Workshops are led by children's publishing professionals: editors, authors, art directors, publishers, agents, academics.

We are searching for reliable individuals with an innovative mind to join our team.

Highlights Foundation Cooks & Servers

Cooks at The Barn at Boyd's Mills are responsible for but not limited to, preparation, service execution and sanitation of all food related activities as it relates to standard service and guest needs. We pride ourselves on providing top notch food and service to meet each individual guest needs.

Highlights Foundation Housekeepers

Housekeepers at The Barn at Boyd's Mills are responsible for but not limited to making beds, washing and folding linen, cleaning facilities and public spaces. As well as traveling to and from rooms in many variable conditions.

Highlights Foundation Maintenance Help

Maintenance helpers at The Barn at Boyd's Mills are responsible for but not limited to operating lawn care equipment, weeding, mulching, light maintenance and event set up.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred
  • 2+ years' experience as a hospitality worker in a relevant capacity
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and/or instructions
  • Knowledge of proper food handling techniques (cook)
  • Serve Safe Certification preferred (cook)
  • Able to work as part of a team, get along with others
