Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy through a structured cycle count program, root cause analysis of discrepancies, and continuous improvement of inventory processes. This role ensures alignment between physical inventory and ERP system records to support production continuity, procurement efficiency, and financial accuracy. The position plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence, material availability, cost control, and cross-functional communication across Supply Chain, Production, Maintenance, and Finance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cycle Counting & Inventory Accuracy

  • Execute structured cycle count programs in accordance with established calendar discipline.
  • Perform daily cycle counts, reconciliations of inventory, monitor and maintain current inventory levels based on established "ABC" codes for both production lines and in warehouses(s).
  • Ensure blind count integrity and adherence to standardized counting procedures.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy performance (accuracy %, variance trends, recount rates).
  • Maintain strict adherence to adjustment approval processes and controls.
  • Support annual physical inventory activities as required.

Variance Analysis & Root Cause

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, document findings, and solve.
  • Identify recurring trends and escalate systemic issues.
  • Partner with warehouse and operations teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Track investigation closure to ensure issues are fully resolved.

Governance & Controls

  • Support enforcement of inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of count results, adjustments, and investigation outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal audit and financial control requirements.
  • Promote calendar discipline to maintain continuous count coverage.

Operational Support

  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to improve inventory reliability.
  • Help reduce excess, obsolete, and inaccurate inventory through data-driven insights.
  • Support process improvements that enhance material flow and transaction accuracy.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments preferred.
  • ERP system experience required (Microsoft AX/D365, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret variance trends.
  • Working knowledge of cycle counting methodologies and inventory accounting principles.
  • Solid communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Physically capable of operating or learning to operate a fork truck; experience preferred.
Additional Information

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standing or sitting at a desk for long periods of time, walking throughout the facility, and the ability to handle up to 50lbs as required.
  • Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
  • Work time is spent on the manufacturing floor and in an office.
