Position Overview: Auburn, IN - Retail Foam Plant (50%)
The Quality Engineer will support a retail foam operation producing foam for OEM customers as well as mattresses and bedding products. This role requires strong communication with shop floor associates and leadership, basic measurement and data analysis skills, and a hands-on, adaptable approach. Responsibilities include shop floor quality control, process monitoring, and continuous improvement activities.



Fort Wayne, IN - Engineered Foam Plant (50%)
The Quality Engineer will support an engineered foam facility serving multiple markets, including Automotive, Medical, Aerospace, and Acoustics. This role focuses on applying technical expertise to improve products and processes while working closely with customers and internal teams. Responsibilities include managing customer-specific quality requirements and supporting plant and organizational quality initiatives.




Responsibilities:



  • Review prints, procedures, Customer Specific Requirements and regulatory requirements for consistency, applicability and accuracy.


  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and respond to customer reported defects as they relate to the manufacturing and related processes.


  • Work with Manufacturing to develop Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans and PPAP documentation.


  • Support, develop, and maintain Work Instructions (WIs).


  • Use Quality Tools; Cause and Effect, SPC, Pareto Charts, etc. to monitor, analyze and improve process parameters.


  • Review and perform activities associated with Corrective Action and Nonconforming Materials that affect manufacturing and support processes.


  • Work closely with production, research and development (R&D), quality and engineering departments on manufacturing issues and improvement areas.


  • Work with Development teams as needed to support new equipment or process improvements; documents, product and/or process, design changes.


  • Review, lead and / or perform activities to support Continuous Improvement projects and quality initiatives.


  • Conduct product and process audits; to ensure compliance with requirements.


  • Maintain and develop appropriate logs, reports and process indicators.


  • Determine root-cause of nonconforming product and technical problems; investigate, identify, implement solutions, and verify problems have been resolved.


  • Ability to support design and development of new processes using continuous improvement technology to effect improvements and/or meet special customer requirements.


  • Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Manager or designee.



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality or manufacturing preferred.
  • Extensive quality and manufacturing experience in a plant setting will also be considered.
  • 2 - 4 years of Quality Engineering experience in an automotive or industrial manufacturing facility.



Technical Skills:



  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 Quality Management System.


  • Automotive or industrial manufacturing experience preferred.


  • Hands-on, self-starter, who is able to thrive in a team environment, and is able to continually improve their role and the role of Quality and Operations.
  • Six-Sigma Yellow, Green or Black Belt certification or equivalent training; Lean manufacturing and 6S techniques a plus.
