Job Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Specialist manages core HR functions with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and regulatory compliance. This role serves as a primary point of contact for recruitment while supporting a productive, compliant, and well-engaged workforce. Responsibilities include posting job openings, screening candidates, maintaining accurate employee records, coordinating benefit programs, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local employment regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities: Recruitment & Staffing
  • Partner with HR Director and hiring managers to identify staffing needs and workforce gaps.
  • Post job openings across approved platforms and manage applicant flow.
  • Review resumes, conduct phone screens, and coordinate interviews.
  • Support selection and hiring processes to ensure a positive candidate experience.
Onboarding & Orientation
  • Process new hire documentation and verify employment eligibility.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation ensuring understanding of organizational policies, culture, and expectations.
  • Coordinate initial training and onboarding schedules.
  • Serve as a resource for employee questions and concerns.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, morale, and performance.
Benefits & Records Administration
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data in compliance with standards.
  • Administer benefits enrollments, changes, and employee communication.
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information.
Compliance & Policy Administration
  • Support adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist in policy updates, audits, and documentation.
  • Maintain awareness of HR best practices and regulatory changes.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in related field required, 4-year degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of Human Resources experience is required.
  • Experience working with a company with 700+ employees preferred.
  • Experience with ADP payroll system or similar HRIS is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
