Job Summary:
The Office of Radiation Safety is hiring a Health Physics Technician to join their team within the Department of Environment, Health & Safety. The Health Physics Technician plays a key role in the implementation of procedures and processes for the UW-Madison Radiation Safety Program and will report directly to the Associate Radiation Safety Officer. The Radiation Safety Program establishes radiation safety standards to ensure the health and safety of personnel who work with or who may be exposed to radiation. The Health Physics Technician integrates regulatory requirements and best practices with results from field observations into programmatic actions. They help ensure that radiation exposure to staff, members of the public, and the environment are As Low As Reasonably Achievable. The Health Physics Technician is expected to regularly communicate with clinical and research staff to support the creation of a safe work environment. This position will have a broad range of responsibilities which may include maintenance of spaces and equipment used with radioactive material, identification/quantification/processing of radioactive waste, preparing and shipping radioactive material and/or waste, assisting with decommissioning projects, radiological surveys, and more depending on department needs as well as employee skills and interest. Ongoing/Renewable Full-Time: 100% FTE Hours generally scheduled onsite, Monday-Friday typically from 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Occasional nights may be required for this position. Key Job Responsibilities:

Compensation:Minimum $26.00 (Hourly) The starting hourly rate for the Health Physics Technician position is $26.00, but it is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
