I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

Job Description Summary:
The GW Institute for Korean Studies (GWIKS) is looking for an energetic, highly organized Program Manager to organize the Fiscal Policy Forum.

This part-time, temporary, remote-friendly role offers professional flexibility without sacrificing impact. While you can manage day-to-day operations remotely, your expertise and presence are required on-site in Washington, D.C. for our flagship events. If you are a dependable professional who takes initiative, can manage high-level logistics, loves seeing a plan come together, and wants to contribute to the work of the area's premier Korean studies institution, we want to hear from you.

What We're Looking For

  • Operational Excellence: You are genuinely enthusiastic about organizing and take pride in event management. Whether it's an international webinar or a multi-day event in-person, you are skilled at keeping schedules on track and logistics seamless.

  • Korean Language & Policy Interest: You will serve as a primary contact for our international partners. Proficiency in Korean and an understanding of professional norms would be valuable tools for success in this role. Experience working with the Korean and/or economic policy communities is highly valued.

  • Reliability & Accountability: As the administrative anchor of the Fiscal Policy Forum, you are committed to our mission, the team, and take full ownership of program outcomes from inception to reporting.

  • Professional Initiative: You are a self-directed program manager capable of supervising a student assistant, as well as coordinating faculty, full-time staff, and guest speakers with minimal oversight.

Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinate International Events: Plan and execute one academic webinar, a 2.5-day intensive training session for Korean officials and GW students with guest speakers and site visits, and a half-day international conference.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Manage formal communications with GWIKS, invited speakers, the KDI School, Korean government agencies, and the broader D.C. policy community.

  • Event Logistics: Oversee online and on-site requirements including communications, publicity, venue booking, catering, speaker honoraria, and travel arrangements.

  • Reporting: Compile data and draft narratives for grant sponsors to showcase the program's impact.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
