Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a full-time Portfolio Manager to join our team at our Brea Lending office.

Responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of assigned commercial loan and/or commercial real estate relationships. Responsible for all aspects of commercial lending portfolio management, monitoring covenant compliance, loan performance and financial statement analysis, property performance analysis, referrals, and cross selling Bank products and services in support of client retention and portfolio growth. Work directly with customers and internal resources to negotiate loan renewals, modifications and retention of loans at risk of payoff to meet portfolio retention objectives.

What you will do:

  • Monitors reporting and commercial client portfolios to assess ongoing credit quality, timely address past due and maturing loans, address documentation and collateral exceptions, ensure financial performance updates, assess portfolio profitability, and review and address other key portfolio performance and compliance factors.

  • Monitor covenant compliance, review operating statements, tax returns, borrower and guarantor financials, property financials, monitor and report on overall loan portfolio performance. Prepare annual review analysis, including risk rating recommendations, and coordinate approval with Credit Administration. Perform site visits as required.

  • Collaborates with and assists RMs and branch staff in cultivating cross-sell opportunities and credit requests. May participate in face-to-face client calls as part of the Commercial Banking team.

  • Maintains and promotes existing client relationships and portfolio growth. Proactively identifies loans at risk of payoff and develop strategy to retain relationships. Maintains a solid understanding of client's current and potential needs and opportunities to expand relationship.

  • Analyzes portfolio for trends. Manages to pre-determined metrics for loan/deposit ratios by identifying opportunities for selling product.

  • Maintains product knowledge of all relevant Bank products, and the established processes and procedures necessary to successfully deliver them to clients. Participates in industry, civic, and community events to build a network of referral sources and to generate business leads.

  • Travel required.

Who you are:

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree preferred.

  • 2 - 6 years of related commercial and/or commercial real estate loan experience; Completion of Bank Credit Training program plus 2 years relevant lending/credit experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of commercial credit analysis, spreading and analyzing financial statements, property operating statements and rent rolls, guarantor and borrower financial analysis, tax returns, and loan documentation.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail skills.

  • Excellent ability to effectively and accurately define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion.

  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • Solid working knowledge of commercial and real estate lending and types of loans secured by various types of collateral.

  • Solid working knowledge of business and banking terminology.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient with Windows suite and the ability to use data base programs and other banking specific programs and to access reports. Ability to use software documentation and help features.

Pay Range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually

AIP/Bonus up to 15%

Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
