Job Summary

Church & Dwight is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join our Harrisonville, MO facility. This role oversees a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment supporting a multi-skilled maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and the ability to meet customer demand. The facility manufactures and distributes products such as Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent, Scent Boosters, and OxiClean.

About the Role

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading maintenance operations on an overnight shift while ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are met. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to respond to urgent maintenance needs while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.

Work Environment

Onsite: This role is based in Harrisonville, MO and follows a Monday-Friday schedule from 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM, with flexibility required to cover additional shifts as needed. This position supports a 24/7 manufacturing environment and may require being on call.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all plant safety policies and procedures and delivering job-related safety training.

  • Analyze production and maintenance reports to identify and resolve operational, quality, and efficiency issues.

  • Oversee and prioritize maintenance activities, ensuring timely execution of repairs and preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Provide emergency response support including equipment repair and stabilization of critical situations.

  • Develop and implement action plans to address safety, quality, and production challenges.

  • Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including repair records, preventive maintenance, and parts usage.

  • Drive continuous improvement by developing tools and techniques to enhance equipment performance and department KPIs.

  • Review POKA activities regularly and update the status of corrective actions.

  • Participate in and support Lean initiatives including 5S and Kaizen events.

  • Collaborate with site planning teams on scheduled outages and maintenance planning.

  • Lead, train, and develop maintenance staff while ensuring adherence to safety and performance standards.

  • Supervise external contractors and ensure work is completed safely and effectively.

  • Participate in production meetings and cross-functional collaboration efforts.

  • Manage employee attendance and timekeeping systems accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Monitor downtime, identify improvement opportunities, and drive corrective actions.

  • Maintain familiarity with plant food safety programs and basic HACCP principles.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Facilities and Maintenance Manager.

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).

  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.

  • Supervisory experience in a manufacturing or maintenance environment.

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with autonomous maintenance programs.

  • Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with food safety programs and HACCP principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, team building, coaching, and mentoring abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing schedules and priorities.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise systems such as SAP.

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to support operations.
