Director, IT Mergers & Acquisitions (IT M&A)

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide strategic leadership and end-to-end accountability for all IT workstreams related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic transactions, ensuring timely, secure, and value-driven integration execution.
  • Lead IT due diligence efforts in partnership with Corporate Development, Security, Finance, Legal, and executive leadership, assessing technical environments, operational maturity, risks, cost structures, and integration complexity to inform deal decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a scalable, flexible IT M&A playbook that defines governance models, integration standards, Day 1 readiness criteria, 30-60-90 day milestones, and long-term transformation objectives.
  • Own the planning and execution of Day 1, Day 30, and Day 90 integration milestones, ensuring business continuity, secure access provisioning, endpoint and asset visibility, collaboration tooling alignment, and service support readiness.
  • Serve as the senior IT integration leader across all acquired entities, acting as the primary liaison between acquired leadership teams and internal IT functions to drive alignment, clarity, and accountability.
  • Establish clear integration governance structures including steering committees, workstream cadences, risk logs, decision frameworks, and executive reporting mechanisms.
  • Drive rapid stabilization of acquired IT environments, identifying operational gaps, tooling redundancies, contract inefficiencies, and security exposures, and executing remediation plans with urgency and discipline.
  • Partner with IT Operations, End User Services, ITAM, Service Management, Security, and Engineering teams to coordinate seamless integration across endpoint management, service desk, collaboration platforms, identity alignment, and vendor transitions.
  • Lead IT separation planning and execution for divestitures, including TSA design and negotiation support, transition roadmaps, service carve-outs, and risk mitigation planning.
  • Own post-close integration budgeting, cost tracking, synergy realization measurement, and financial transparency across all M&A-related IT initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for platform consolidation, vendor rationalization, process standardization, and operating model optimization to accelerate value realization and reduce long-term technical debt.
  • Ensure acquired environments are aligned to corporate security standards, compliance requirements, asset management policies, and operational controls in partnership with Security and Risk teams.
  • Drive organizational readiness planning including communication strategies, onboarding workflows, support model transitions, and change management to ensure minimal employee disruption.Build and lead a high-performing IT M&A team, defining clear roles, expectations, and performance standards while fostering a culture of accountability, urgency, and execution excellence.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on integration progress, risks, resource constraints, and business impact, enabling informed decision-making and risk ownership.
  • Operate effectively in high-ambiguity, fast-paced environments where multiple acquisitions may run in parallel and priorities must be dynamically balanced.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, with significant experience leading complex technology integrations, enterprise transformations, or large-scale cross-functional initiatives.
  • 5+ years of experience in people leadership, building and managing high-performing technical or program teams in dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading IT due diligence, post-merger integrations, divestitures, or enterprise-wide transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of IT Operations including End User Services, IT Service Management, IT Asset Management, endpoint management, collaboration platforms, and enterprise tooling ecosystems.
  • Experience building and maintaining M&A playbooks, governance models, and structured integration frameworks that scale across multiple transactions.
  • Proven ability to drive Day 1 readiness planning and execute 30-60-90 day integration milestones with measurable business impact.
  • Strong financial acumen including integration budgeting, synergy tracking, TSA cost management, and vendor contract evaluation.
  • Experience working directly with executive leadership, Corporate Development, Legal, Finance, and external stakeholders during transaction cycles.
  • Ability to assess operational maturity quickly, identify gaps, and implement structured remediation plans under tight timelines.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into executive-ready insights.
  • Strong program management capabilities, including risk management, dependency tracking, milestone reporting, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Comfort operating in high-growth, rapidly evolving environments with parallel initiatives and constrained resources.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities including ownership mentality, bias toward action, structured decision-making, accountability, and the ability to influence without direct authority.

The range posted is for a given job title, which can include multiple levels. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job.

The estimated total cash compensation range for this role is:
$160,000 $200,000 USD
