1.0 FTE - Day Shift

Starting Pay - $32.04 to $40.05 (based on experience)

Offers for external candidates are generally made between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on experience.

Qualifications:



  • BS Exercise Physiologist with CEP (clinical exercise physiologist) certification by ACSM, mastery of AACVPR Core competencies with knowledge of exercise physiology, nutrition, risk factor modification, counseling techniques, and behavioral change techniques
  • Health-related care discipline with licensure (registered RN or PT or master's BS in health-related field with CEP certification)
  • Preferred 3 years minimum clinical experience in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and stress testing
  • Current BLS (First Aid & CPR) and ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) certification or must attain within 90 days of employment
  • Knowledge in exercise stress testing, EKG analysis, prevention and education of heart disease and pulmonary disease, and exercise prescription for clinical patients preferred
  • Strong written and verbal skills with ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Basic computer knowledge


Administrative Job Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:



  • Maintains proficiency with computer systems needed to properly perform the requirements of this position.
  • Maintains patient information confidentiality.
  • Maintains a cohesive and safe working environment.
  • Responsible for overall supervision of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation (CRPR) program and Cardiology Department including review of outcome measures and meetings with medical directors.
  • Ensures accreditation is properly completed withing CRPR as well as ECHO laboratory.
  • Acts as a clinical resource for staff on policy/procedures, assists in monitoring compliance, and creation of new procedures specific to CRPR and Cardiology services.
  • Coordinates staffing coverage for absences for current CRPR and Cardiology staff.
  • Reviews and approves timecards to reflect current schedule of staffing.
  • Oversees supervision of CRPR and Cardiology staff (discipline/counseling staff).
  • Intercedes with patient complaints, and works with manager on process improvement plans, including discipline as needed.
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of CRPR and Cardiology operations and service lines.
  • Coordinates development of new service lines based on AACVPR and ACSM guidelines and protocols.
  • Facilitates and maintains external volunteer opportunities with community groups supporting the patients enrolled in the cardiopulmonary program as a representative of Olmsted Medical Center.
  • Communicates volunteer opportunities within the community for staff.
  • Coordinates annual attendance to AACVPR or ACSM by a member of the Cardiopulmonary Rehab staff, when appropriate.
  • Coordinates staff competencies specific to program according to AACVPR certification guidelines.
  • Manages yearly staff reviews according to department and organization competencies.
  • Works collaboratively with manager to facilitate department and capital budget requests and significant changes in program
  • Updates current staffing on billing changes required by organization.
  • Coordinates hiring process for new staff in Cardiopulmonary Program collaboratively with Human Resources. Completes screening for applicants and interviewing process.
  • Organizes training for new employees including competency completion.
  • Mentors peers through hands-on educational training, review of protocols, etc.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to coworkers, clinicians, staff, and administrative staff.
  • Participates in the departmental and/or organizational quality improvement process.
  • Participates in all Infection Control, departmental equipment, organizational safety, and fire safety training programs.
  • Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situation.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the departments and interdepartmentally.
  • Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
  • Adheres to dress code - appearance is neat and clean.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Participates in internal and external education and/or marketing of rehabilitation services as well as specifically CRPR and Cardiology marketing annually.


Clinical Job Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:



  • Properly assesses patient's vital signs and symptoms during exercise.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Interacts professionally with the patient/family and involves the patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
  • Observes and evaluates exercise treatment effect of program and recommends change to the clinician and/or referring provider as needed.
  • Charges patients accurately and timely in compliance with departmental policy and in compliance with specifications outlined in the annual CPT publication (current procedural terminology).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of exercise physiology, exercise stress testing, exercise prescription, monitor interpretation, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements.
  • Keeps current in exercise physiology interventions by reading scientific journals and research articles and attends continuing education courses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
