JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for evaluating, training, and making licensing recommendations for families interested in providing a safe, therapeutic home to children in foster care. Utilizes background checks, home environment assessment, and home study visits and questionnaires with family members to determine if the family meets the state qualifications for becoming a licensed therapeutic foster home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates the home environment of active and prospective foster homes. Completes therapeutic home study process in a timely manner to identify areas that need to be addressed with a plan of action. Submit to DCS for approval.
  • Submits recommendation for licensing to the DCS licensing consultant and enter all licensing information in the DCS database. Creates and maintain a licensed home file in Centerstone electronic record.
  • Complete annual and re-licensure (every 4 years) requirements for all foster homes. Ensure that in-service training hour requirements are met and that any changes in the home are reported accurately and mitigated when needed.
  • Completes initial foster parent background checks to include national fingerprint, local, child-protective services, and sex offender checks.
  • Provides pre-service training, prescribed therapeutic training, CPR/1st Aid and on-going training to foster families and staff. Coordinates and maintains all training records, ensuring each family meets minimum standards.
  • Ensures all fosters families meet and maintain compliance standards. Maintains ongoing communication regarding licensure requirements and provides support to foster families.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
  • Willingness to learn about and provide trauma-informed care required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

Bachelor's degree is required. Degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice or other related behavioral healthcare field preferred.

Years of Experience

One to two years working with children, adolescents and/or families is required.

$39,720.00--$55,735.00
