Come and join our team at this 605-room convention center hotel in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City. Our luxury hotel is located next to the Paycom Center(OKC Thunder), the Oklahoma Convention Center and across the street from the 70-acre Scissortail Park. The property includes an all-day dining outlet (Seltzer's Modern Diner), an entertainment sports bar (OKC Tap House), specialty restaurant (Bob's Steak & Chop House), coffee shop (Park Grounds) and a retail outlet (RareBird Gift Shop). Additionally, guests can enjoy a Mokara Spa, fitness center and a rooftop pool and bar (CatBird Seat) complete with a fire pit, outdoor lawn and cabanas. The hotel offers 76,000 square feet of meeting and event space inclusive of a 20,000 square foot ballroom, 10,000 square foot ballroom, and a 4,200 square foot outdoor pre-function space that overlooks the park.
Job Description
An amazing opportunity to be a pivotal part of the Omni convention collection hotel. The Omni Oklahoma City Hotel is a true outdoor recreation, entertainment and culinary destination paying homage to the heritage and modern progress of the city. With 605 guest rooms and suites, the luxury hotel will showcase views of the 70-acre Scissortail Park and the downtown skyline with 75,000 square feet of meeting and event space, sports bar, specialty restaurant, coffee shop and a retail venue. The pool server's primary responsibilities are to request or take orders from guests and serve food and beverages, check on guest satisfaction and handle the payment and complaints/concerns of customers. Pool servers are also responsible for maintaining a complete knowledge of food and beverage menus, serving guests quickly and efficiently while maintaining a clean, safe and professional work environment.
Responsibilities
Acknowledge and greet all guests, anticipate guest needs and respond to guest inquiries or requests.
- Must have full knowledge of food and beverage offerings.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of work areas.
- Properly provide silverware and condiments prior to food being presented at bar area.
- Clean and resetting of bar area as guests depart or preparation of drink is completed.
- Responsible for proper bar setup and break down and triple sink procedures.
- Communicate with management, kitchen staff, and serving staff professionally at all times.
- Contributes to a professional workplace that maximized employee moral, productivity and effectiveness. Works well with a diverse FOH and BOH staff.
- Performs additional responsibilities although not detailed, as requested by a manager.
- Insures responsible service of alcohol by following all legal requirements including carding and consumption
- Accurately takes food and beverage orders from guests and promptly records all transactions in Micros system. Maintains guest tabs and processes payment promptly.
- Prepares restaurant and pool deck for either opening or closing in accordance with departmental standards
- Serves food and beverage to guests following departmental steps of service and adheres to service times
- Follows daily checklists and side work. Sets up, stocks and breaks down pool deck and restaurant for service daily. Completes all assigned cleaning duties.
- Complies with direction and instruction from the management team.
Qualifications
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for up to eight hours a day.
- Ability to bend and reach above head holding up to 10 pounds frequently
- Minimum 1year serving experience, high volume & casual environment preferred.
- Must have full knowledge of menus, liquor, beer, cocktails and any other pertinent information.
- Must have strong communication skills speaking with enthusiasm.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have problem solving abilities, be self motivated and organized.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must have an unexpired food handlers and state alcohol certification.
- Must have full knowledge of the floor plan, table numbers, and labeling system as outlined in training.
- Must be able to work under moderate supervision.
- Must be flexible with schedules including weekends and holidays.
- Must be familiar with a service bar atmosphere combination with bar.
- Obtain State Required Liquor License and training certificate.
Physical Requirements:
- This position will spend 95% of the time standing and 5% of the time sitting
- Ability to work in difficult weather conditions including heat, rain, and humidity
- The individual must be able to lift, move, and carry up to 30 pounds without assistance
- Must be able to work continuously standing for up to and sometimes exceeding 8 hours at a time.
Working Environment:
- Daily environmental exposures to cold, heat, humidity, and other outdoor conditions
- Must show ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment
- Possesses stamina and energy to remain active and move quickly for up to 10 hour shifts
- Ability to hear, understand and respond to guest and staff requests in a loud environment
Tools & Equipment:
- Must demonstrate ability to carry trays
- Knowledge and operating of the MICROS System
- Operate MICROS handhelds for pool deck service
- Compute basic arithmetic, specifically in cash handling situations
