This is a great role to demonstrate your ability to drive results, apply cross-disciplinary skills to the clean energy space, collaborate closely with diverse teams, and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition and the DG market.The Distributed Generation (DG) Strategy and Regulatory Section Manager will support all strategic, regulatory, and stakeholder engagement needed to execute on our mission to provide a best-in-class customer experience while supporting integration of DG onto the grid in a manner beneficial to our customers, the grid, achievement of clean energy and other policy goals, in alignment with Company business priorities.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the Strategy, Regulatory and Policy team that develops short-and long-term customer offerings and regulatory and policy strategy to execute our DG interconnection efforts in a manner so as to maximize clean energy integration, and customer and business benefits while also aligning with stakeholders and regulators priorities and goals; this team will lead DG external communications with our regulators and stakeholders.
- Direct and develop the team responsible for financial and technical analyses, developing analytics tools, optimizing existing DG efforts, designing new DG offerings, incorporating market intelligence, and partnering with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure Company DG initiatives align with state and city policy goals and meet regulatory requirements.
- The Section Manager will work closely with the Distribution Planning Department leadership team to align the section around a common strategy and support successful design and implementation of customer and policy offerings.
- Lead continual analysis of DG initiatives, DG market conditions, various rate structures and DG development and operating costs to support achievement of policy and Company objectives.
- Monitor and ensure close integration with DG operations of near-term strategy on a frequent basis and as part of an annual and multi-annual strategic plan.
- Lead the team that provides insights to forecasting and planning organizations within the Company to prepare and plan for DG integration onto the grid.
- Lead cross-functional teams responsible for new strategic department initiatives that may arise from time to time within the Distribution Planning department and in other internal departments.
- Be responsible to provide information and business insights and align closely with departments such as Corporate Affairs and Strategic Planning based on DG market insights.
- Provide problem solving, guidance, and strategic support to the department.
- Lead the team that develops communications and represents the Companys perspective to external stakeholders such as the New York State Department of Public Service Staff and other stakeholders. External communications will include representing the Company at conferences and other external events.
- Become recognized as an expert leader in the nation and a champion of DG integration inside and outside the Company; and work with other internal Con Edison departments and external stakeholders whose collaborative efforts can drive success to advance Company business and leadership in this space.
- Keep abreast of DG operational, technical and regulatory strategies being undertaken in neighboring jurisdictions and across the country and the world to derive lessons that can be used to improve productivity and efficient delivery of customer services, reduce the cost and/or timeline for interconnecting DG, as well as evolve policy in line with clean energy goals and other stakeholder priorities.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Master's Degree and 6 years full-time work experience, including 3 years of relevant work experience in clean energy, distributed generation, or other relevant industry. or
- Bachelor's Degree and 8 years full-time work experience, including 3 years of relevant work experience in clean energy, distributed generation, or other relevant industry.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master's Degree -MBA
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Sustainability, Energy related discipline, Economics.

- Familiarity with utility financials. Preferred
- Working knowledge of regulatory processes such as preparation of rate proceedings, responding to commission orders and responses to interrogatories. Preferred
- Experience developing projects related to distributed energy resources or infrastructure serving customers' distributed energy needs. Preferred

Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
