Job Summary

The Senior MEP Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all field activities related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with project specifications and quality standards. This role works closely with project leadership, engineering teams, subcontractors, and field personnel to manage planning, installation, testing, commissioning, and final system turnover. The Senior MEP Superintendent also provides technical leadership and mentorship to support strong team performance and successful project delivery.

Job Responsibilities



  • Oversee and coordinate all on-site activities related to MEP systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, design professionals, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and project stakeholders to resolve system-related challenges.
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules for MEP activities, including coordination, installation, start-up, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Track progress against project timelines and implement adjustments to maintain schedule alignment.
  • Review and approve subcontractor payment applications based on verified progress and remaining scope of work.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to field staff and MEP team members.
  • Identify potential field or logistical conflicts and coordinate proactive solutions.
  • Develop and clearly define scopes of work and areas of responsibility for trade partners, including temporary operations as required.
  • Verify that all work is performed in accordance with project specifications and approved documentation.
  • Plan field activities to ensure proper sequencing and site readiness.
  • Manage Client allocations to align with project priorities and maintain accurate documentation of labor distribution and progress.
  • Resolve coordination conflicts between MEP systems and other trades.
  • Lead system start-up, testing, commissioning, closeout, and turnover activities.
  • Communicate complex installation requirements in advance to support effective planning and execution.
  • Support implementation of project quality control processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in construction, engineering, or MEP system coordination.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and their integration within commercial construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, Client planning, and cost considerations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in construction management and scheduling software.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and safely navigate active construction sites.
  • Ability to work in environments exposed to varying weather conditions, noise levels, airborne particles, and active mechanical or electrical systems.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.


Work Experience



  • At least four years of progressively responsible experience related to MEP systems within construction or engineering environments.
