The County Administrative Assistant is a member of the staff of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (
NCCE). The County Administrative Assistant's primary responsibility is to provide support to the County Extension Director and other staff as assigned. The County Administrative Assistant cooperates with colleagues in the
NCCE and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibility is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the
NCCE.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension field faculty deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens.
Warren County, located on the North Carolina-Virginia border, is in Cooperative Extension's Northeast District. Warren County is a diverse, thriving rural community known for creative, sustainable economic revitalization. The county seat is Warrenton and the county population is approximately 18,700. The estimated agricultural income is $24 million of which, grains as well as livestock, forages, and forestry are all an important aspect of the agricultural economy. Warren County is in the process of developing a new Farmer's Market venue along with increasing opportunities for small and new/beginning farmers. In addition to a rural agrarian setting, Warren County also has a significant recreation/retirement community along Lake Gaston.

Duties and Responsibilities
The County Administrative Assistant position provides office support and leadership, under supervision, to the Extension staff and does related work as required to support educational programs in a variety of areas including data entry, procurement and management of office supplies and programming materials and building schedule for room reservations as well as equipment rentals for local farms.
Responsibilities include providing administrative support for the County Extension Director and other staff/program areas including Agriculture, Horticulture, 4-H, Farmers Market and Family and Consumer Science. Position interacts with other county departments (Human Resources, Finance, Budget, Facility Services, etc.) to ensure effective relationships with county government.
The County Administrative Assistant will work with the County Extension Director to develop and effectively manage the county and
NCSU Extension budget and maintain monthly expense records.
