Position Summary

The Department of Cell Biology and
Physiology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque is
seeking to hire a full-time lecturer of medical gross anatomy. The candidate
for this non-tenure track lecturer position should have experience teaching
gross anatomy with cadaveric dissection in large and small group settings,
preferably in a medical school or health sciences programs. This individual
will also assist in the organization and management of the human cadaver
laboratory and body donation program.

Detailed
list of responsibilities:


As
a member of a collaborative team of faculty, contribute to the delivery of an
integrated basic science curriculum for medical students including facilitating
large and small group active learning sessions, leading anatomy laboratory sessions,
preparing and presenting prosections, and supporting students during laboratory
practical examination in the following contexts:
- 9-weeks during the Clinical Morphology Block
- Variable time during each organ system block to review the relevant anatomy and physiology, or assist with teaching new anatomy and physiology content in the following undergraduate medical education courses: Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, and Renal Block; Gastrointestinal, Nutrition, and Metabolism Block, Neurosciences (Head and Neck review and Neuroanatomy Labs), Human Sexuality, Reproduction, and Endocrine Block

Assist
with undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education, continuing
medical education, and graduate research education courses (i.e. Biomedical
Sciences Graduate Program) that include human anatomy laboratory components, as
well as special projects.

Serve
as an anatomy and physiology content expert for group and individual tutoring
of medical students.

Assist
in oversight of the anatomy dissection facility including keeping up to date on
best practices, scheduling, and lab turn around between curricula.

Direct
educational outreach activities for K-12 and community organizations.

Support
the annual Donor Memorial Service.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

* M.S. or Ph.D. degree in human anatomy, physiology, or a related field.

* 2 years of experience teaching gross anatomy at either the graduate or undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Mastery of human cadaver dissection.

* Experience teaching human gross anatomy in a dissection-based course with a clinical emphasis, preferably in a medical school or health sciences curriculum.

* Experience teaching related disciplines including histology, embryology, physiology, and neuroanatomy.

* Training in and/or experience with active learning pedagogies such as team-based learning, peer instruction, and other modalities.

* Commitment and passion towards teaching, learning, and student mentorship as evidenced by prior activities.

* Interest in assisting with management of the anatomical donor program and the anatomy laboratory, including current best practices and regulations.

* Interest in or experience with educational outreach.

* A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
