This Position reports to:

Engineering Tooling/Machinist (Supervisor)

Under minimal supervision, the Mold Tool Setter operates forklifts, walkie stackers, and overhead cranes to safely handle and position molds and related equipment. This role interprets technical specifications and utilizes mechanical machine tools to fit, assemble, manufacture, and repair mold components. The position requires working knowledge of tool design, shop mathematics, metal properties, machinery, and assembly procedures. The Mold Tool Setter supports uninterrupted production by professionally installing and preparing molds for operation. Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools is essential, along with a strong understanding of molding machine mechanics, machine operation, and the relationship between machine setup and mold installation.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Safety

  • Understands and follows plant safety and procedures
  • Avoid or prevent hazardous conditions from developing
  • Wears appropriate protective equipment as required, dresses and conducts self in a safe manner
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly and maintains Lean 5S
  • Participates in plant safety objectives

Job Functions

  • Demonstrate the mechanics of molding machines, their operation, and how this relates to mold installation.
  • Read and interpret tool setup sheets, drawings, and SOP's
  • Use a variety of hand tools and fixtures
  • Assists in installation and removal of tooling
  • Cleans and examines tooling for defects
  • Repairs fixtures as necessary
  • Report and document tooling changes
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes
  • Responsible for following all company policies/regulations
  • Performs all quality checks, interprets and reacts to data trends on quality documentation
  • Follows up on quality product/process improvement suggestions
  • Takes proactive ownership and responsibility for product quality at point of manufacture and process improvement
  • Fully quality trained and understand concepts, documentation and control procedures
  • Perform duties as assigned by supervisor

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience setting up molds in an injection molding environment
  • Experience in lieu of education will be considered
  • Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various types of production equipment
  • Must have good interpersonal skills, able to work with minimal supervision to meet department goals
  • Good mechanical/electrical abilities
  • Good communication skills & Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Injection molding skills

Skills and/or Training

  • Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand various written instructions in English
  • Bend, twist & turn in a safe manner
  • Lift up to 40 Pounds
  • Stand for long periods
  • Good hand dexterity
  • Strong math skills
