What to Expect

Tesla's Cell Recycling Team is seeking multiple Universal Waste Technicians that will report to the Cell Recycling Process Engineering Supervisor. They will work primarily on the warehouse floor and will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with the operations teams at the Cell Recycling Plant and assist with daily production.


What You'll Do
  • Operate safety sensitive and heavy equipment such as forklifts, tuggers, pallet jacks, flatbed carts, and more
  • Load and unload hazardous waste material onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts, balers, and/or load gratings
  • Assemble crates and containers, and prepare materials for transport by palletizing, wrapping, loading, and moving and conduct inventory audits
  • Provide emergency spill response/cleanup and perform decontamination of equipment
  • Perform breakdown/processing and packaging of universal waste streams such as battery packs, modules and cells,measure the condition of each incoming battery material to determine whether it meets conditions for safe storage, including taking voltage measurements with a multimeter
  • Follow safety guidelines & procedures and report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to Supervisor or area lead
  • Report any equipment damages or repairs needed to repair shop and Supervisor or area lead and have a punctuality and a professional, can-do attitude are a must

What You'll Bring
  • Required to work with and around hazardous areas and hazardous chemicals (RCRA Regulations) and confined spaces
  • Experience with chemical handling and water distribution is desired
  • Command of English language, both written and verbal with strong attention to detail
  • Open to schedule flexibility that will allow for a variety of shifts, including days, nights, or weekends as needed
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information, basic computer skills to log inventory
  • Multitasks and adapts to constant change and has basic mechanical aptitude

Essential Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day including but not limited to:
  • Ability to work outside in the elements ranging from -10F up to 110F in the wind, rain, and snow
  • Lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs. for up to 20 feet in distance frequently and repetitively
  • Bend, lift and reach frequently and repetitively stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and manipulate tooling, quickly and accurately during new hire training and maintaining ability throughout employment
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, hardhat, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
  • Ability to wear a full-faceair-purifyingrespirator while performing mildly or moderately exertional tasks for 4 consecutive hours, up to 12 hours per day
