What to Expect

We are looking for an Electrical Panel Build Technician to independently assemble, wire, inspect, and commission (power on and validate) industrial electrical control panels. Responsibilities also include wiring field components (robots, motors, sensors, etc.) into the control panels, performing electrical testing and validation, and occasionally supporting the installation at various Tesla facilities around the US. The ideal candidate has a range of experience supporting electrical panels through all phases of build, install, and maintenance, with a strong focus on quality and safety.

This job operates in an assembly shop floor environment and occasionally at other Tesla locations (10-20% travel). Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud environments.


What You'll Do
  • Independently build and wire electrical control panels (using PLCs, VFDs, contactors, relays, breakers, terminal blocks, etc.)
  • Read and interpret EPLAN electrical schematics and layouts
  • Perform continuity, torque, and visual inspections
  • Perform assembly and wiring of electrical field components (robots, motors, sensors, etc.)
  • Commission (power on), test, validate and troubleshoot electrical circuits
  • Travel to other Tesla locations (10-20% travel) to support installation and commissioning of automation equipment
  • Ensure compliance with Tesla standards and safety procedures, plus electrical standards UL 508A, NFPA 70, and NFPA 79

What You'll Bring
  • 2-5 years of experience building electrical panels; must provide own basic set of hand tools
  • Experience building general automation equipment preferred
  • Strong proficiency with EPLAN drawings (preferred) or AutoCAD Electrical drawings
  • Working knowledge of IEC-style schematics and UL 508A
  • Experience with industrial control components
  • Positive, team-player attitude; ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy
