Job Overview

The Earned Media Assistant plays a key support role in bringing Bloomingdale's brand story to life through thoughtful, strategic external communications. This position supports the execution of earned media initiatives that build brand awareness, strengthen cultural relevance, and amplify key moments across fashion, retail, and lifestyle media.

The role contributes to storytelling efforts across product launches, special events, store openings and renovations, digital initiatives, and seasonal and holiday campaigns. Media relations is a core focus, including supporting relationships with press, influencers, tastemakers, and vendor partners. Success in this role requires strong organization, clear communication, curiosity about the media landscape, and the ability to collaborate across a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions



  • Partner with the Manager and Director, Earned Media to support the planning and execution of earned media strategies across product launches, events, store milestones, major campaigns, and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of press materials, including press releases, pitches, story angles, briefing documents, fact sheets, gift guides, and presentation decks that reflect Bloomingdale's brand voice and point of view.
  • Support media relations efforts by maintaining accurate media, influencer, and tastemaker lists and assisting with targeted outreach to fashion, lifestyle, trade, consumer, and broadcast outlets.
  • Serve as a liaison for vendor and brand partners, supporting media needs and information flow in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with partners including the Fashion Office, Marketing, Social Media, Visual, and Buying to ensure PR efforts are integrated and aligned with business priorities.
  • Assist with the coordination of media interviews for senior leadership and Fashion Office partners, including scheduling and preparation of materials.
  • Support regional and branch store PR needs by assisting with local media requests and tracking coverage.
  • Monitor and track media coverage, maintain reporting, and stay informed on fashion, entertainment, cultural trends, and emerging media platforms relevant to the brand.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and enthusiasm for news, media, social platforms, and the evolving luxury landscape.



Qualifications and Competencies



  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, media, or a related field (including internships)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working across teams and levels
  • Creative thinker with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Interest in building media, industry, and influencer relationships
  • Flexibility to support varying schedules based on department and company needs



Physical Requirements



  • Prolonged periods of sitting with occasional standing and walking
  • Ability to bend, reach, hear, and communicate as needed
  • Continuous use of computers and standard office equipment
  • Ability to lift and move up to 15 lbs. as required
