*Data Center Technician* *Why This Role Exists* As hyperscale data centers evolve, older generations of hardware must be safely recycled to make room for nextgeneration infrastructure. This role exists at the center of that transition.
The *Data Center Circular Center Technician* plays a critical part in the *secure decommissioning, recovery, and reuse of data center equipment*. Rather than simply disposing of hardware, this team ensures valuable components are harvested, sensitive data is permanently destroyed, and assets are fully tracked through their endoflife lifecycle. The work directly supports sustainability goals, security compliance, and operational excellence in largescale data center environments. If you enjoy handson technical work, structured processes, and knowing your work has real operational and environmental impact, this role puts you at the heart of it. *Role Overview* This position supports highvolume data center operations focused on *equipment decommissioning, asset recovery, inventory management, and secure data destruction*. You will work independently within defined runbooks and processes, escalating issues as needed while maintaining accuracy, safety, and compliance. The environment is fastpaced and detaildriven, ideal for technicians who thrive on precision, accountability, and physical hardware interaction. *Shift Structure (A Side / B Side)* This role follows a *rotating Aside / Bside schedule*, providing builtin consistency and predictable time off. * *A Side:* * Sunday - Tuesday * Every other Wednesday * *B Side:* * Thursday - Saturday * Every other Wednesday This alternating structure supports continuous operations while offering regular extended breaks and a consistent rhythm week over week. *What You'll Do* * Execute *data center decommissioning activities*, including receiving, staging, dismantling, and preparing hardware for reuse or disposal * *Harvest critical server components* (NICs, motherboards, DIMMs, CPUs) and ensure accurate documentation and tray placement * Perform *secure destruction of databearing devices (DBDs)* in accordance with established security and compliance standards * Support *Asset Receiving Area (ARA)* operations by scanning, tracking, and preparing racks and hardware for downstream processing * Prepare and prepack assets for *IT Asset Disposition (ITAD)*, ensuring full traceability at the component and rack level * Document outbound shipments, validating racks, pallets, carriers, and seals while following strict safety protocols * Maintain accurate *physical and system inventory records*, including cycle counts and audit corrections * Manage consumable inventory and ensure materials are available to support daily operations * Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support logistics, distribution, and racklevel activities * Maintain a clean, safe, and organized data center environment at all times *What We're Looking For* *Required Experience* * 1-3+ years of experience in a *data center, circular center, warehouse, supply chain, or IT logistics environment* * 1+ year of *handson server or hardware experience*, including component harvesting * 1+ year of *break/fix or hardware troubleshooting experience* * Experience with *shipping/receiving, inventory management, and ticketing systems* *Core Skills* * Data center operations * Inventory and asset tracking * Shipping & logistics coordination * Hardware handling and break/fix * Processdriven execution and documentation * Ability to work independently in a highvolume environment *What Makes This Role Different* * Direct involvement in *data center sustainability and circular economy initiatives* * Handson exposure to enterprisescale hardware and decommissioning processes * Clear procedures, strong safety culture, and structured operational workflows * Opportunity to build specialized experience in *secure asset handling and lifecycle management* * A role where *accuracy, accountability, and technical skill truly matter* #MPipe26 *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Northlake, IL. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
