What to Expect

Supply Chain Manager (SCM) whois a strategic thinker with a proventrack recordof demand planning, engineering and development collaboration, and experience in managing complex supply chains. The SCM will work to developthesupply chainfor chemicalssuch as electrolyte and electrolyte sub-componentsfor Tesla battery cells. In thisrolethe SCM willbe responsible for securing batteryraw materials and involved in product development all the way from R&D to production, while balancing cost, quality standards, globalsupplyand demand, as well as geopolitical risks.

Tesla is afast moving, dynamic environment where flexibility and adaptability are key attributes needed for success. The successful candidate will be a self-starter;motivated with a demonstratedtrack recordof achievement.


What You'll Do
  • Negotiate commercial agreements with supply chain partners such as GTC, PPA, license agreements, MTA, etc.

  • Manage supplier relationships tooptimizecost and toscalebattery material capacity

  • Conductglobalmarket analysis toidentifynewchemical manufacturingpartnership opportunitiesby evaluatingtechnology and process capability

  • Lead large-scale supplier investment projects from idea to implementation

  • Own RFI's, RFP's and RFQ's - ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented

  • Develop andutilizecost models todefine shouldcosts and negotiate price for sourcing and cost reduction

  • Analyze current market conditions, technology roadmaps, andidentifysupply/demand challenges and opportunities

  • Lead the vendor selection process with engineering teams, including raw material specification, vendor technology capabilities assessment, and alternative product options

  • Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure that Tesla's pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations as well as Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality


What You'll Bring
  • Degree inChemicalEngineering, Mechanical Engineering,ElectricalEngineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering,Chemistry,MaterialScienceor equivalent experience

  • 5+years ofworkexperience inEngineering,Engineering Sales,Manufacturing Planning,orSupply ChainManagementrole

  • Ability to make decisions based on limited information

  • Analytical with ability to build out Should-Cost models and cost forecasts

  • Dedication to the Tesla mission of accelerating the transition to renewable energy

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment

  • Excellent team building skills in dealing with suppliers, peers, and other functional teams

  • Strong writing ability and an ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner

  • Prior experience with batteries with battery materials preferred

    Expected Compensation
    $84,000 - $324,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
