Position Summary
The Part-Time Graphic Designer provides ad-hoc support to Tate Print & Copy Services. Reporting directly to the Manager of Tate Print & Copy Services, this role will provide design and set-up services for customers and internal units in a timely manner. This role will assist the Production Manager and others and may require direct consultation with clients requesting graphic design assistance. Creativity, attention to detail, and efficiency are vital qualities of a successful Part-Time Graphic Designer. Extensive knowledge of printing and finishing equipment is not necessary, but a willingness to learn about and engage in the operation of Tate Print & Copy Services is expected.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:


  • Knowledge of graphic design principles, visual communication standards, and branding best practices appropriate for digital and print media.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat, as well as general proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Skill in using both Macintosh and PC platforms to produce, edit, and deliver high-quality design materials.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and campus partners in a professional, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Competency in learning and adapting to new software, design tools, technologies, and equipment as needed.
  • Knowledge of major social media platforms and basic marketing strategies as they relate to visual content and audience engagement.

Graphic Design

  • Assist the department in fulfilling graphic design requests and print-ready file setup.
  • Complete assigned design projects, including minor edits, template work, file setup, or creating original designs, in a timely manner.
  • Design UGA business system items (business cards, letterhead, etc.) in accordance with university standards.
  • Communicate with customers to clarify design requests, gather required information, and confirm project details.
  • Assist Tate Print & Copy Services and UGA Passport Services with development of marketing assets to include print, digital, and social media-ready content.

Administrative

  • Facilitate conference calls/video conferences with customers, as needed, to ensure an accurate and thorough understanding of graphic design requests.
  • Review and revise graphic designs based on customer feedback to the highest degree possible.
  • Maintain organized and appropriate records of all graphic designs and created content within Tate Print & Copy Services designated file storage system.
  • Any and all content developed shall be considered the property of Tate Print & Copy Services.
