Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Site Patrol in Wilmington, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Allied Universal Armed Security Officer at a government corrections location, you will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, maintain a highly visible presence to help to deter security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with staff and visitors. This post requires an Armed Guard Card or License. Bring an agile, reliable mindset, a caring approach, and the integrity to deliver through teamwork while supporting daily operations.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or contractors by following site-specific procedures, access requirements, and assigned post orders at a government location.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and/or requests for assistance in a calm, problem-solving manner, and coordinate with on-site personnel and local responders as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Control entry points by checking identification and/or authorization, verifying visitor logs, issuing temporary credentials when directed, and reporting suspicious activity.
  • Complete required security-related reports such as daily activity logs, incident reports, and shift briefings, and communicate relevant information during post transitions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess an Armed Guard Card/License.
  • Have 6 months or more of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
