Job Overview:

Coordinates and orders all supply needs of the department Is responsible for all instrument repairs and coordinating with the manufacturer on the returns and loaners if needed Works closely with the Peri-op leadership team and CSP leadership to identify future instrument needs additional instruments and consistent par levels of back ups to maintain daily operations Contact with Service Line Managers nursing staff medical staff and vendors other departments such as Materials Management Biomed Facility Operations Central Sterile Processing and ancillary departments.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of an approved Central Service Technician Training Course.
  • 2 years prior supervisory experience and 5 years Central Service experience.
  • Requires a recognized Central Sterile Leadership Certification

Scheduling Requirements :

* 37.5 hours/ week
* FT

Essential Functions:
* Responsible for updating count sheets adding and deleting items equipment ordering replacement scanners and equipment and some maintenance of equipment as needed to keep the system running at 100% at all times.
* Responsible for coordinating the repair of special equipment including scopes Tracks all repairs via an electronic log and inform each service line Manager or Coordinator of items going out and anticipated return Responsible for repairs being returned to the proper set.
* Act as a resource for clinical staff with regards to instrumentation.
* Establishes and maintains a process for the use of loaner instrumentation coordinates with the OR and CSP on all pertinent information relating to the use of the loaner instrumentation.
* Environment of Care Demonstrates the awareness of safety security life safety preparedness and utility and equipment management policies competencies Adheres to Standard Precautions Adheres to Safety and Infection Control policies Attends mandatory in-services Helps maintain a safe and clean patient work environment Follows incident reporting procedures.
* Ensures that appropriate standards of practice follow corporate compliance guidelines acts in an ethical and legal manner and assures that all actions are in the best interest of the hospital The results of accreditation surveys and licensure reviews by NJSDOH and JCAHO are satisfactory.
* Develops a feasible system to establish and maintain an OR peel pack cart as well as adequate back up inventory and will order all instruments as needed.
* Maintains an adequate level of backup instruments to diminish the down time of sets The goal is to maintain a 100 completion rate of instruments Identify those instruments that have a high loss rate and assist in identifying the causes.
* Works with Materials Management to coordinate par levels inclusive of standardizing products where appropriate to assure consistent levels of inventory of critical items especially relating to sterilization products needed for day to day operation I e sterilization cassette wrappers tape indicators and biological testing.
* Works with Service Line Managers and CSP Management on ordering of new instruments to include new physicians onboarding adding additional sets to inventory and all back ups.
* Performs inventory of all loose instruments within the CSP department and assists in reorganizing with a goal of reducing or eliminating unused instruments.
