Military Flight Controls Division Supporting aircraft worldwide, Parker Aerospace's Military Flight Controls Division (MFCD) provides primary and secondary flight control systems that make flight possible. Tested, proven and trusted in commercial and military applications for decades, MFCD provides precise position-control actuation solutions for military aircraft across the United States and with foreign partners. The division's JetPipe electrohydraulic servovalve (EHSV) technology is used across commercial and military aircraft around the world. Headquartered in Irvine, California, the Military Flight Controls Division is the global leader in fly-by-wire flight control systems and electrohydraulic products and offers the world's most advanced motor design capabilities for flight controls.

SUMMARY:

Provides technical expertise and leadership in an engineering discipline, product, or systems field. Researches and carries out complex engineering assignments that result in the introduction of new technologies, products, or processes. Contributes to and has responsibility for the completion of significant assignments with broad product, technology, customer, and strategic business impact. Develops and recommends solutions to unique technical challenges.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs detailed structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Ansys Mechanical FEA tools. LS-Dyna expertise a plus.

  • Integrates component-level structural math models and performs integrated analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses to verify structural integrity.

  • Performs structural analysis and provides expertise to respond to customer inquiries, develops service bulletins, investigates failures and coordinate with regulatory agencies, to maintain continued airworthiness/mission capability.

  • Guides structural design and configuration development. Performs trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements.

  • Documents structural analyses and data, required to show compliance with Parker, customer and regulatory requirements, at a component level.

  • Develops, deploys and supports in-house and commercial application software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks to reduce cycle time and drive product improvements.

  • Researches and prepares data to support definition of structural design requirements.

  • Researches new technology applications, new product designs and structural life enhancement concepts, to improve products at the program level.

  • Develops test plans, conducts pre-test analysis, monitors tests, analyzes and correlates test data, and documents results to develop and certify structural concepts, investigates failures and develops allowable materials.


  • Compiles and analyzes operation, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products or systems.


  • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary, data are insufficient or conformation by testing is advisable.

  • Supports Integration and Test by assessing out of spec conditions and providing recommendations in a timely manner.

  • Provides expert technical advice and recommendations, leads internal and customer design reviews, and proposes methodology for problem-solving and analysis on complex design or customer issues. Researches and develops technology with an R&D and product development focus.


  • Provides expert technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning by carefully analyzing and applying advanced engineering and scientific concepts.


  • Communicates and coordinates with other technical resources to provide recommendations, lessons learned, methods for problem-solving, analysis methodology, etc. to maximize contribution to multiple projects or programs.


  • Makes technical proposals and presentations to various internal and customer groups to influence business decisions.


  • Investigates, researches, and operationalizes new technologies in specialty or related areas to improve cost and performance by applying advanced engineering design methods, theories, and research techniques.


  • Acts as consultant to management on technical and project-related matters, serves as a functional expert.


  • Identifies mentoring and development needs; serves as a mentor for other employees.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Work Authorization:

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. * 120.15 is required. "

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree within Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Discipline

  • 10+ years of experience using ANSYS or similar FEM software to perform structural analysis on aircraft or space structures.

  • 10+ years of experience with structural analysis methods (e.g., fatigue and corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques, damage tolerance methods used in maintenance programs).

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering discipline preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience working on aerospace or space programs.

  • Pay Range: $120500 to $210950 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
