Cooley is seeking a Real Estate Case Assistant

Position summary: The Case Assistant (Real Estate) is responsible for providing organizational and administrative support to attorneys and paralegals in the Real Estate Department. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position Responsibilities:

General:

  • Assist with real estate transactions from inception to closing. Transactions include, but not limited to Purchase and Sale Agreements, Leases, and Loans.

  • Assist with and coordinate due diligence reviews.

  • Assist with title and survey review.

  • Assist with and coordinate escrow activities.

  • Obtain and review any and all reports, including surveys and UCC searches.

  • Review leases, service contracts and management contracts.

  • Search county land records and tax assessment databases to obtain information on ownership, lenders, existing liens, and easements.

  • Create closing check list, prepare and review executable closing documents and monitor post-closing items.

  • Draft necessary correspondence and assist with the preparation of other documents as required.

  • Coordinate with Service Companies to obtain client organizational documents such as Good Standing Certificates, Articles of Formation, and Certificate of Incorporation.

  • Draft lease amendments and summaries.

  • Other tasks as assigned by practice group or paralegal management, including the opportunity to work on pro bono matters.

  • :

  • Bill a minimum of 1600 hours annually

  • Input and release billable time and complete Workday timelogs on a timely basis, in addition to other administrative duties

  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications

  • Available to work overtime, as required

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred:

  • Paralegal Certificate

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel

Competencies:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work well with others

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and track extensive details

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel and to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly

Cooley LLP offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits program. EOE.

The expected hourly pay range for this position with a work schedule of 40 hours per week is $31.00 - $33.00 ($64,480.00 - $68,640.00 annually). Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
