Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an entry level Cloud Engineer to join the Information Technology department. The IT team is experiencing an exciting transformation as we move into the cloud. The Cloud Engineer will help drive the successful implementation of secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud environments.

Responsibilities:

    Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions on both Azure and OCI platforms
  • Develop and implement cloud governance strategies, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, security, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for complex cloud-based solutions
  • Support PMO projects involving migrations, upgrades, and integrations with other cloud-based solutions.
  • Document configurations, policies, and troubleshooting procedures for knowledge sharing.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in cloud-based solutions computing
  • Optimize cloud resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and scalability


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 9+ years of experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online or IT Support
  • Prior experience supporting Electric Boat and DOD contractor
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred:

  • Experience in cloud systems administration with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 or Azure
  • Experience with implementing and managing M365 product suite
  • Proficient in managing Entra ID, Office 365, OneDrive, Exchange and Teams
  • Experience in government or private cloud environments


Skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to manage and prioritize ticket-based workload along with incoming side requests
  • Creating professional documentation and diagrams for external consumption
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to rapidly evolving requirements
  • Strong customer facing capabilities
  • Familiarity with automation tools, such as PowerShell
  • Knowledge of JIRA Software and Confluence
