Overview

Job Summary
The Business Insights Intern will provide support to the Sales & Marketing teams performing ad-hoc analysis, distribution of standard reporting, maintenance and update of existing reports. In addition, the intern will be responsible for analysis and communication of industry and competitive updates.

This is a unique opportunity to gain broad experience, have responsibility for a variety of projects and engage with key decision makers. The Business Insights Intern will be responsible for developing analyses, scorecards and key performance indicators. This role will assist the organization with gleaning data driven insights that lead to meaningful action. The Business Insights Intern will report to the Sr Business Insights Analyst as a part of the Financial Planning and Analysis team. There are no direct reports reporting into this role.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

    Continual deep dive analysis into business performance, identify data insights that lead to delivering business outcomes
  • Synthesize data, market information and competitive intelligence to provide actionable insights and business trend information, including financial results of key competitors on quarterly basis
  • Organize and extract insights from secondary data sources related to paint and home improvement
  • Support and automate recurring reports to increase department and organizational efficiency
  • Update and distribute recurring reports ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency
  • Assist in monthly store count audit and customer master data update to ensure accuracy between the sources
  • Support strategic projects to analyze retailer and contractor performance, product analysis, and other sales related initiatives
  • Conduct in-depth evaluations of marketing loyalty programs to derive insights and propose recommendations based on findings along with preparing presentations and reports
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop standard reports, key performance indicators and develop overall approaches on how to measure and report the business
  • Manage various internal ad hoc requests and projects to assist and support Sales Management, Marketing and peers with on-demand analytics


Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field, with an expected graduation date of May or December 2026
  • Strong Excel skills, with demonstrated ability to perform functions including but not limited to Pivot Tables, Vlookup, XLookup, Sum/Countif, etc.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills with an ability to craft engaging and informative presentations
  • Preferred experience with Business Objects and other mining tools; data visualization tools (i.e., Tableau, Qlik Sense) is preferred
  • Ability to communicate openly and honestly with colleagues and customers
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment and quickly grasp new concepts by demonstrating and applying knowledge of these tasks timely and accurately
  • Seen as a team player that encourages collaboration and quickly gains trust and support of peers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • This position requires minimal travel on an as needed basis
  • There are minimal physical requirements for this position
