Application Development Specialist

Newton, MA

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and ongoing improvements for business applications.

  • Coordinate activities with data source application owners to ensure data integration, including data integrity and data quality.

  • Collaborate with business owners, business analysts, and other team members to define and document functional requirements for interfaces and system changes.

  • Ensure project schedules and timelines are aligned with business application implementation goals and requirements, adjusting as necessary.

  • Develop and use relevant industry standards and domain information models to satisfy functional and non-functional requirements and remain in compliance with corporate standards and guidelines.

  • Propose new technical architectures and solutions to improve and enhance existing architectures.

  • Evaluate and test emerging technologies and tools.

  • Conduct and facilitate collaborative data modeling activities among multiple stakeholders, and support business development efforts where data architecture and analysis requirements are defined.

  • Adapt to Agile methodologies, determine project scope, and provide level of effort estimates for project tasks and related activities.

  • Participate in regular status meetings with development and applications teams and communicate relevant project information to management, adjusting communication strategy and approach to match the needs of specific business groups, individuals, and development partners.

  • Ensure that feedback from key business owners is fully acknowledged and incorporated into functional and technical specifications, process flow diagrams, and project plans.

  • Serve as a communication bridge between business leaders, applications team, developers, and infrastructure team members to facilitate understanding of initial requirements, address questions, and manage changes across team.

  • Serve as a technical liaison with third party development partners and resolve and escalate technical issues in a timely fashion when working on complex application projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and five years' experience with Microsoft technologies and development practices.

  • Experience must include five years with each of the following: Microsoft Stack, SQL Server, and SSIS; coding standards; building queries and writing PowerShell scripts using Python/UNIX; and supporting all phases of the project life cycle including running project prioritization and post-installation project meetings.

  • Experience must include three years translating business requirements into ETL designs, technical design documents, and mapping specifications; and ETL performance tuning and development using Informatica Power Center and IDMC. Experience may be gained concurrently.

Salary: $146,810 - $154,146/year
