Reporting to the Public Relations (PR) Manager, the PR Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of public relations initiatives that elevate brand visibility and credibility within the architectural, design, construction, and building materials industries. This role provides comprehensive project coordination and administrative support across trade shows, product launches, industry events, and awards programs, while assisting with media outreach, press materials, and influencer engagement across local, regional, national, and trade outlets. The PR Specialist collaborates closely with corporate communications, marketing, and internal and external partners to ensure consistent brand and product messaging, manages internal and external approval processes, and supports content distribution through press releases and feature story development, photography coordination, and digital updates. Additionally, the role tracks and analyzes media coverage, manages industry relationships and sponsorships, and supports strategic storytelling efforts that strengthen engagement with architects, designers, contractors, and specifiers.

What You Will Do

  • Assist with media outreach by researching outlets, identifying relevant influencers, and assisting with pitching story ideas, product news, and project features to local, regional, national and trade media.
  • Support public relations efforts for trade shows, architectural events, product launches, and industry initiatives, providing project coordination and administrative support for PR programs targeting architects, designers, contractors, and specifiers.
  • Coordinate internal and external approvals for PR materials, technical content, and product-related communications
  • Track and manage award submissions and speaking opportunities with architectural, design, and construction industry organizations
  • Assist with distributing press releases through Cision to architectural, construction, and trade media outlets
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on PR efforts and media coverage across building materials, architecture, and construction outlets.
  • Liaise with corporate communications and marketing teams to ensure alignment of PR efforts with brand and product messaging
  • Coordinate updates with the marketing communications team, including website content, product collateral, and specification materials
  • Help manage association partnerships and industry event sponsorships within the building materials and architectural sectors
  • Coordinate photography for product installations, project case studies, trade events, and corporate use
  • Attend internal/external training sessions and complete relevant social platform certifications.
  • Integrate AI tools into daily workflows to enhance efficiency and creativity.
  • Ensure compliance with professional, ethical, and brand standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism
  • 4-6 years of professional experience
  • Working knowledge of public relations best practices, media relations, and communications workflows
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with PR and media monitoring tools (e.g., Cision or similar platforms)
