The Role:

Entegris' Semiconductor manufacturing site in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Quality Engineering Manager to join our team. This key leadership role reports to the Site Director and directly manages both individual contributors in Quality Engineering and people leaders who oversees a team of Quality Engineers and Lab Technicians. The team partners with cross-functional stakeholders to drive manufacturing quality and product yield. This role is responsible for managing, leading, and providing technical and strategic direction within a 24/7/365 manufacturing environment. They are responsible for ensuring proper support for manufacturing processes including staffing levels, issue escalation, and driving high-level operational goals and objectives consistent with the business strategy.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the Quality Engineering team, and provide technical and strategic direction for defining, maintaining, and improving the manufacturing processes and standardizing across the shifts.

  • Work with and align with Product Engineering team on new product quality requirements. Support local New Product Introduction (NPI) processes and commercialization of new products.

  • Reduce variation in product and process parameters by identifying key contributors to variation and implementing effective control systems and enhanced system controls.

  • Handle site quality through MRB, DRB completion, audit support, quality lab operations, supporting customer requests, and complaint investigation, to meet response expectations.

  • Lead/oversee product and non-product root-cause investigations and customer communications using statistical analysis and engineering expertise and drive effective corrective/preventative actions.

  • Direct and develop personnel to improve individual and organizational performance, through performance-based management, including goal setting, coaching, training, developing, and providing feedback.

  • Establish and use strong working relationships with the EH&S, Customer Quality Engineering, Production, R&D, Sourcing, Planning, internal support groups and external suppliers/customers to ensure on-time execution of business plans.

  • Maintain plant business activity awareness and drive actions vital to sustain plant integrity. Facilitate site tours and audits (Customer, ISO, Business, Etc.) Supervise operational and quality performance and improve systems, processes, and standard methodologies.

  • Prioritize project schedules based on Customer and Business needs, considering risks and benefits, equipment efficiency, resource availability and materials supply.

  • Drive continuous improvement for the site's key performance metrics (EH&S, productivity, quality, plant efficiency). Ensure that the integrity of product and quality systems data is maintained at high levels.

  • Ensure site training program is robust and adequate. Provide guidance and training to staff, developing the team to attain goals, motivating individuals to achieve results, and recruit and maintain high-quality staff.

  • Maintain and enhance cross-functional team relationships. Work cross-functionally to identify and resolve production/engineering issues.

  • Ensure policies and processes are followed, training requirements are defined, and teams are fully trained.

What We Seek:

  • BS in Mechanical, Polymer, Chemical or Material or a related Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years in manufacturing environment; experience leading a team within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a high technology, high-volume product line.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at various levels of the organization.

  • Strategic thinker with a vision of where we want to be in 3-5 years coupled with experience to execute a plan.

  • Engineering knowledge and experience with manufacturing, quality systems, and systematic problem-solving.

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

  • Proven experience with external working relationships and communications, supplier, or customer, preferred.

  • Lean/Black Belt certification.

  • Proficient with Lean Manufacturing tools including Value Stream mapping, Identification of the 8 forms of waste, Proficient with 5S+1 and able to guide these techniques. Solid understanding of Design of Experiment.

  • Strong knowledge, competency, and background in statistics, SPC/SQC, process control, 8D methodology, metrology, and Chemistry. Six Sigma tools for variability reduction and process improvement.

  • Ability to mechanically design and develop equipment/systems/devices.

  • Ability to develop and execute qualification requirements and plans.

  • Experience implementing and supporting automation solutions.

  • Experience inspecting and texting equipment, both contact and non-contact.
