Job Description: The Assistant Principal (Elementary) assists the School's Head Principal in leading the instructional program and ensures its alignment with division regulations for curriculum design and assessment. Provides and promotes a state-of-the-art curriculum and superior instructional delivery for the success of all students. This position Adminstration, 12-month position, reports to the School's Head Principal. Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree, A Master's degree in related field is required.
- Certificates & Licenses: A Valid Virginia Department of Education Teaching PostGraduate License, with the add-on endorsement in Adminstration & Supervision PreK-12, or eligibility to obtain the appropriate endorsement upon hiring. Please note that the Adminstration & Supervision endorsement is not a stand alone endorsement, and one must already have an established VA License with a subject based endorsement, before obtaining this endorsement.
- Experience:
- Minimum of three years of successful experience as a teacher and/or administrator.
- Experience in elementary curriculum and instruction, including dual language programming, programs for special education (particularly inclusion models), EL programming, and advanced academic services.
- A performance record that demonstrates high integrity, vision, innovation, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to diverse, multilingual schools.
Essential Functions:
The candidate for this position assists the principal with:
- Selecting, assigning, orienting and evaluating staff.
- Developing, supervising and evaluating the school's instructional programs, including dual language, specialized instruction, EL services, and advanced academic services.
- Preparing of the school budget and the master schedule in a dual language model.
- Formulating and implementing professional development activities.
- Interpreting and enforcing Board policies and regulations as well as school mission and goals.
- Supervising the use and maintenance of facilities and evaluating custodians.
- Supervising and coordinating student discipline and welfare.
- Contributing to the school mission and goals for the purpose of providing a positive learning climate and supportive community environment.
- Assists the principal with such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Compensation: Placement on the Administrator LAS-CP (215) grade, determined by The ACPS Licensed Administrator Salary Scale Clearances:
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
- Tuberculosis Skin Test.
- Public Health Compliance - Must follow safety and health protocols.
