DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Implement and oversee federal and state regulations, laws, and initiatives specific but not included in price transparency, consumerism, and Medicaid expansion efforts. Manage department to achieve industry and organizational Revenue Cycle Key Performance Metrics. Not limited to preservice collections, Medicaid conversion rate, and good faith estimate compliance. Includes root causes and implementing action plans when necessary in addition to staying abreast of revenue cycle industry trends and governmental policy changes. Oversee the financial assistance application process for the health system. Serve as a liaison and educator to MU Health Care faculty, staff, and patients on all available financial assistance programs, state and federal initiatives, and policies.

Represent MU Health Care by serving as the contact for the State of Missouri Family Support Division and operationalizing on the partnership agreements in place. Oversee any partners, vendors, and systems utilized in the performance of achieving goals for the uninsured or underinsured population of patients. Measure and track staff productivity and accuracy rates through metrics and department scorecards. Recruit, onboard, and develop staff. Guide, coach, and mentor them to achieve a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. Actively manage department budget with the assistance of the Director of Financial Counseling. Monitor department activities and metrics to ensure compliance with the requirements of all regulatory agencies.

Oversee the efficacy and operational streamlining of vendor systems used in the environment to achieve expected outcomes. Regularly round and seek feedback from stakeholders impacted by the financial counseling department. Actively participate with direct reports on employee engagement and in succession planning and developing career advancement. Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of coverage and continuity of care. Monitor and oversee time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely approval for payroll purposes. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public policy, computer related, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Five (5) years of experience in health care. Two (2) years leadership experience in health care.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in business or related field. Four (4) years of leadership experience. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
