The primary purpose of this position is to perform all necessary inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance on facility, grounds and equipment of The GIANT Company Perishable Distribution Center (PDC), Recycle and Transportation Centers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Complete preventive maintenance and repairs on MHE, refrigeration, dock equipment, racking, batteries, fire suppression and alarm systems as required by state, federal and internal procedures * Diagnose and repair the following MHE components: electrical system, steering, brakes, and safety devices * Perform facility repairs and remodeling task such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical * Maintain lawns, landscaping, and related equipment * Keep work area neat and orderly * Responsible for snow removal of yard, parking areas and walkways during weather events QUALIFICATIONS * Must be authorized to work in the U.S. * Must be able to communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations in order to complete job duties in a satisfactory manner * Must meet the ergonomic and physical requirements, as well as the physical base scores for this position, with or without a reasonable accommodation * Must meet the company performance standards for the job including but not limited to regular attendance. * Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform this job * Complete understanding of material handling equipment operation, repair and inspection * Understanding of Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines and requirements * Understanding of OSHA, EPA, and USDA regulations * Understanding of diagnostic systems * Proficient in EAM maintenance software * Mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems * Theory and troubleshooting of AC and DC circuitry * Mill work and fabrication * Operation of power tools and welding equipment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Shift Hours: Minimum 4-hour shifts or more depending upon business needs * Job Cycles: Continual Max * Lift/carry: 50 lbs. * Stand 55%, Sit 0%, Walk 45% * Category IV: Lifting, carrying, P/P up to 50 lbs. o There may be times in which team members may be asked to lift items weighing in excess of 50lbs., but this will not be a regular occurrence, nor does this disqualify candidate for this position * Team member will constantly bend/twist/kneel/stoop in order to pick up debris and other items that end up on the floor * Max Pull static: 20 lbs. * Stooping, kneeling, and climbing to 15 feet * Must be able to stand and walk most of a 10-hour shift, operate power equipment to include floor scrubber, sweeper, forklifts, pressure wash, etc. * High level of physical work both indoors and outdoors PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS * Team members are responsible for understanding company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the team member handbook * High school diploma or GED; technical school preferred * At least 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance with an electrical and mechanical background * Welding, carpentry, and plumbing experience The GIANT Company is an equal opportunity employer.
