Job Description

Join our high-performing legal team as a Bodily Injury (BI) Paralegal Specialist. You'll play a key role in drafting critical motions and supporting attorneys through every stage of the litigation process-from discovery to trial. This is a fast-paced, defense-focused role ideal for a sharp, organized paralegal who thrives on variety and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and file bodily injury motions (concentration on Motions for Joint Trial, Motions to Compel, Motions to Dismiss, Motions for Summary Judgement, and Notice of Intent review with Motions to vacate)
  • Manage service of answers, discovery exchanges, IME (Independent Medical Exam) and RAD reviews
  • Draft and respond to discovery demands, including supplemental demands
  • Prepare trial materials and support attorneys during trial, arbitration, or mediation
  • Review new file assignments and draft initial pleadings
  • Communicate with vendors, manage medical records, and oversee document flow
  • E-file and manage case documents via the New York State Courts Electronic Filing (NYSCEF) and vendor platforms
  • Liaise with Claim Business Partners and Plaintiff Attorneys on case status
  • Monitor relevant legal updates and summarize key findings for attorney review

Education

  • Bachelor's degree AND at least 1 year of paralegal experience, OR
  • Paralegal certificate (ABA-approved preferred) AND at least 2 years of paralegal experience

Experience

  • Experience as a Paralegal with a focus on insurance defense or bodily injury law
  • Experience supporting attorneys through all phases of BI case preparation, including pleadings, trial prep, and e-filing

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong time management, adaptability, and ability to prioritize under pressure
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with legal vendors, managing case documents, and e-filing
  • Ability to tailor support to diverse personalities and work styles
  • Location Requirement: Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Garden City, NY. Eligible counties include:
    Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Kings (Brooklyn), Bronx, New York (Manhattan), Richmond (Staten Island), Westchester, and Rockland

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 28.03 - 42.99 per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
