SUMMARY: The Research Student reports to the Principal Investigator, providing assistance to the project staff, as needed. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts research protocols in conjunction with project staff, which may include, but are not limited to: (1) data entry, data cleaning, data analyses, and data programming tasks as needed, (2) assisting in the recruitment of participants through community and OB office site posting and telephone screening efforts, (3) assisting research assistants during lab and home sessions (including some evening/weekend sessions), (4) assisting in the collection, processing and storing of various biospecimens, which may require participation in lab evening/weekend on-call rotation, ,(5) coding of fetalnfant behavior and/or brain regions, (6) literature reviews.Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures and objectives.Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Must be a matriculating student in a 4-year college program.EXPERIENCE:No experience needed.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Normal office environment. Requires standing, bending, and sitting. Sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to use computer keyboard and other common office equipment.INDEPENDENT ACTION:Incumbent functions independently within established laboratory protocol guidelines and/or human subject guidelines, referring specific problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.
