IT Asset & Software Licensing Analyst, Senior | Vendor & Asset Management

As a Senior IT Asset & Software Licensing Analyst at APS, you will lead the lifecycle management of our software and technology investments to ensure reliability, fiscal responsibility, and compliance. Your expertise will help shape enterprise standards, guide vendor negotiations, and strengthen governance practices that support APS's mission to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable energy to our communities. You'll use your technical and analytical skills-especially within ServiceNow-to improve asset visibility, track entitlements, and maintain accurate, transparent records. By optimizing software usage and costs, you support APS's purpose of doing what is right for the people and prosperity of Arizona while helping design a more sustainable and innovative energy future.


What your day would be like
You will:


  • Lead enterprise software acquisitions, renewals, and vendor negotiations to secure strategic value for APS.
  • Use ServiceNow to manage the full lifecycle of software assets, maintain accurate entitlement data, and improve portfolio visibility.
  • Develop and implement enterprise standards and purchasing policies that strengthen compliance and operational excellence.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and spend analysis to ensure software investments align with financial priorities.
  • Monitor license compliance and contract obligations across systems and platforms, proactively identifying risks.
  • Partner with IT, Finance, Procurement, and business leaders to align asset strategies with operational needs and longterm goals.



Who we're looking for
You bring:


  • Proven experience negotiating complex software agreements and managing enterprise licensing compliance.
  • Strong ServiceNow proficiency, including asset lifecycle management, CMDB utilization, software inventory tracking, and entitlement governance.
  • Financial and business acumen to forecast expenditures and optimize technology investments.
  • A track record of standardizing processes, improving asset management maturity, or strengthening purchasing governance.
  • Clear, influential communication skills to engage leaders, vendors, and crossfunctional teams.
  • A collaborative, accountable mindset aligned with the APS Promise-innovating for the future, empowering others, and achieving results together.

Minimum Requirements

IT Asset & Software Licensing Analyst, Senior | Vendor & Asset Management



  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
  • AND five (5) - eight (8) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Requires strong technical knowledge within a job area or system and basic knowledge across related technical areas



Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications



  • Familiarity with ServiceNow Software Asset Management
  • Software Asset Manager Certification
  • Knowledge of technology asset life cycle management processes and supporting tools and services
  • Understanding of IT business continuity, cybersecurity, integrated risk management and optimization methodologies as they apply to technology contracts
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Financial and Budget Acumen
  • Demonstrated contract negotiation skills

Major Accountabilities

1) Directly contributes to the establishment and implementation of hardware and software acquisition, protection, maintenance and retention policies, standards and procedures aligned with IT standards and strategy

2) Investigates hardware and software products of a complex nature; evaluates and recommends products based on available metrics, intended usage and financial impact

3) Coordinates with the procurement function and project teams to select, negotiate, and track software & hardware maintenance investments

4) Gather complex data on, and provide analysis of, activities that have an impact on the value, cost and risk of technology assets

5) Ensure accurate and timely reporting, and that data completeness and quality issues are quickly identified and escalated to the responsible data or process owners

6) Identify and report on compliance to IT Asset Management policies, recommend and track remedial action

7) Analyzes new technology investments & advises on contract structure, content and financial modeling

Home based: Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as-needed basis.

*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
